Now mentoring new agents

Stop building someone else’s empire.

Determined Vision trains people with no insurance background into licensed agents who help families protect their income and build generational wealth. You bring the work ethic. We bring the licensing roadmap, the carriers, the scripts, and someone sitting next to you in your first appointments.

Independent contractor (1099) opportunity. Commission-based compensation with no salary and no guaranteed income. A state insurance license is required to sell; we’ll help you get one.

What we actually provide

A system, not a pep talk.

Plenty of agencies will contract you and disappear. Here is the specific support you get from day one.

Licensing, start to finish

We tell you exactly which pre-licensing course to take for your state, how to schedule and pass the exam, how fingerprinting and background checks work, and how to get appointed with carriers once you’re licensed. Most people are surprised how fast this moves.

Mentorship on real appointments

You don’t get thrown in front of a family alone on week one. You watch, then you co-present, then you run it with your mentor there to catch what you miss. Nobody learns this business from a slide deck.

Multiple carriers

Contract with several A-rated companies instead of being locked into one product line, so you can actually solve for the client in front of you.

Lead strategy

Direct mail, digital, referral and orphan-book strategies, plus honest math on what leads cost and what they realistically return.

Compliance guardrails

How to document, how to disclose, what you can and cannot say. Doing this right protects your license and your clients.

Ownership

Your book belongs to you.

You write business under your own contracts. Renewals follow you. And when you’re producing consistently, there’s a defined path to recruiting and mentoring your own agents, building an agency inside the agency rather than staying an employee forever.

  • Your own carrier contracts and writing numbers
  • Vested renewals per each carrier’s schedule
  • A published path from producer to mentor to agency builder
  • No non-compete that traps you if it isn’t working
The path

From wherever you are now to your first commission.

Timelines vary by state and by how fast you move. This is the sequence.

01

Get licensed

Complete your state’s pre-licensing hours, pass the Life (and often Health) exam, submit fingerprints and your application. We point you at the right course and keep you accountable to a study schedule.

02

Get contracted

We submit you for appointment with our carrier partners. You’ll get your writing numbers, agent portals, quoting tools and e-application access.

03

Learn the product and the presentation

Final expense, mortgage protection and IUL: what each solves, who it fits, and how to explain it to a real person at a kitchen table. Then scripts, objections and role-play until it’s natural.

04

Run appointments with a mentor

Observe, co-present, then lead. You’ll debrief every appointment: what worked, what you missed, what to say differently next time.

05

Build your own book, then your own team

Consistent activity turns into a renewal base. From there, agents who want to lead can start mentoring and recruiting under a defined structure.

The first conversation is 15 minutes and costs nothing.

Compensation, honestly

How agents actually get paid.

We’d rather tell you the real structure now than have you find out in month three. There is no salary here. There is also no ceiling.

Advanced commission

When a policy is issued and the first premium is paid, the carrier pays a commission, often advancing several months of it up front. Your commission percentage is set by your contract level.

Renewals

As long as the client keeps the policy, most carriers continue paying a smaller renewal commission for a set number of years. This is what turns a job into a business.

Chargebacks

If a client cancels early, the unearned portion of an advance is charged back to you. Writing business that persists matters more than writing a lot of it, which is exactly why we train the way we do.

Overrides

Agents who build and mentor a team earn a small override on the production of agents under them, according to the structure in your agreement.

Set expectations

What this is, and isn’t.

This is
  • A 1099 independent contractor role
  • Commission-only, uncapped
  • Flexible on schedule, unforgiving on activity
  • A licensed profession with real compliance duties
  • Best for people who can go 60–90 days building before it compounds
This isn’t
  • A salaried W-2 job with benefits
  • A guaranteed or predictable income
  • Passive: nothing happens without appointments
  • Free: licensing, E&O and leads have real costs
  • A fit for someone who won’t be coached

Determined Vision LLC makes no representation, projection or guarantee of earnings. Individual results depend entirely on your own effort, activity, licensing status, contract level and market. Some agents earn nothing.

Fit check

The best agents we’ve trained had nothing in common, except four things.

01

Coachable

You can take direct feedback on Tuesday and use it on Wednesday without ego.

02

Consistent

You’ll do the calls and the appointments on the days you don’t feel like it.

03

Genuinely likes people

You can sit with someone talking about death and money and make it feel safe.

04

Wants ownership

You’d rather be paid for outcomes than for showing up between nine and five.

Our agents have come from nursing, trucking, barbering, retail management, teaching and the military. If you’re reading this far, that’s usually a signal.

Agent FAQ

The questions everyone asks.

Do I need an insurance license before I apply?

No. Many of our agents start unlicensed. You cannot sell or be paid commission until your state license is issued, but you can start the process immediately and we’ll walk you through every step of it.

How long does licensing take, and what does it cost?

It varies by state. Most states require a pre-licensing course of roughly 20–40 hours, a proctored exam, fingerprinting and a license application fee. Motivated people often finish in two to six weeks. Costs are set by your state and the course provider, and we’ll give you the current numbers for your state on our first call.

Is this a pyramid scheme or MLM?

No. You are paid commission by insurance carriers for policies issued to real clients, not for recruiting people, and not for buying inventory. Agents who choose to build a team can earn overrides on that team’s production, which is standard across the insurance industry, but recruiting alone pays nothing. If nobody sells a policy, nobody gets paid.

Do I have to buy leads?

You’re not required to. Many agents start with their own network and referrals. Most eventually buy leads because it scales, and we’ll be straightforward with you about typical cost per lead and realistic conversion so you can decide with real numbers instead of hype.

Can I do this part time?

Yes, and plenty of people start that way while keeping their current job. Be realistic though: appointments happen when families are home, which usually means evenings and weekends. Part-time effort produces part-time results.

What if I’m already licensed and contracted somewhere else?

Let’s talk. Depending on your existing contracts and any release requirements, there may be carriers we can add without disturbing what you already have. Bring your current setup to the call and we’ll be straight with you about whether a move actually helps you.

Next step
